Beach weekend with friends

What a wonderful weekend we had last beginning of July!!!

It started with a nice Indian dinner with our friends Sona & Hugo. The food was pretty nice, unfortunately the place in itself nothing special. But we definitely had a great evening.  After dinner we had a stroll up to Akershus fortress, enjoying the last sun rays.

For Saturday we had planned a whole day at the beach on Hovedøya island in the Oslofjord. That Saturday was one of those rare weekends that nearly all of our friends were in Oslo, so we were actually 4 couples. The only way for us to ensure to find a place all together for 4 couples on a popular beach was to be there early. So we already met at 10 a.m. at Aker Brygge to take the ferry over to the island. And as we hoped for the little place we went to was still pretty empty, so enough space to spread out our 4 picnic blankets.
We spent the whole day relaxing, sunbathing, swimming, having BBQ and a good time.

 Special, curious guest :-)

Unfortunately Ginta & Hadrien as well as Hugo & Sona already had to leave a bit earlier as they already had other plans for the evening.
However, Marco and I remained together with Ines & Ricardo until the last sun rays had vanished behind the trees. Being left just in four gave us the opportunity to introduce Ricardo and Ines to the traditional German card game "Doppelkopf" (literally translated to "double head").
I think it was only at 08:15 p.m. that we took the ferry back to Oslo harbour.

Since the weather forecast for Sunday was equally nice, we had agreed with Ines and Ricardo to meet up again. This time it was them who introduced us to a new beach in the Oslo area, Storøya beach at Fornebu.
Very nice beach and sandy!!! Easy to get into the pretty shallow water. And some good facilities (such as proper toilets nearby, showers, a little shop to get ice cream...). What a pity, though, that it's not so easily accessible without car. We had to walk for about half an hour from the nearest bus stop.

We finished the evening by having pizza at Ines and Ricardo's place as they live next door to what we discovered is Oslo's absolutely best take away pizza! Such a shame they don't have a restaurant with this pizza as their pizza is actually even better than the one from "Villa Paradiso" which has so far been ranked our top pizza :-)

Not sure if it was the effect of the overload of sun or of the pizza which made us paint this melon...

I really really hope that we get some more of those days, especially weekends! So far summer wasn't really the best here in Oslo. Temperatures were far too low, the really nice days are too few and came far too late.
Let's see what summer still brings along for us, weather wise!
