FR09-PV-BAL 11A - Day 5

Bergen --> Eidfjord --> Gol (ca. 320 km)

We meet at Bryggen for a rainy 2-hours guided tour by Bergen Guideservice, before leaving Bergen...

(Bergen's smallest house)

... towards the region of Hardanger...

... where we stop at the Steinsdalsfossen:

A path goes behind it where visitors can walk dryshod "into" the rumbling water:

After driving a part along its shores we leave the Hardangerfjord to follow the Granvinfjord and the Eidfjord.

On this branch of the Hardangerfjord we also take the Tide ferry crossing (we use a lot for our groups) from Bruravik to Brimnes.

In the village of Eidfjord we have lunch at this nice place called Quality Hotel & Resort.

Within the municipality of Eidfjord lie also several tourist sites, for example the waterfall Vøringsfossen with a free fall of 182 m...

... and large parts of Europe's largest mountain plateau Hardangervidda which we cross on our way to the Storefjell Resort Hotel in Gol. It's definitely one of my favourite overnight places from this tour, a (ski) resort in a remote location surrounded by nature and hills, with great facilities, rooms and service and especially with an overwhelming, amazingly huge dinner (and also breakfast) buffet.
