Lofoten tour with my mum and Engelbert - Day 5

Tuesday 24/08: Reine - Munkebu - Hamnøy

This place is in the morning as beautiful as it was already in the evening before:

But we have to leave Reine. The tour goes on. Next overnight stop are the Eliassen Rorbuer at Hamnøy, a village right next to Reine. This area around Reine being very popular for walking and hiking tours, our today's programme envisages a walk/hike in direction up to the Munkebu hytta. Since my mum is not a big fan of hiking up steep and especially narrow paths, we decided that only Engelbert and me would take a walk around in the area. My mum will stay at the Eliassen Rorbuer and maybe read her book and just relax. So we all drove to Hamnøy...

...and already check in to our rorbu and benefit of a guided tour by the owners around the place (which - coming from Reine - was a bit disappointing and not meeting our expectations).

Well, Engelbert and I left my mum behind...

... and started our walk. Below is a photo taken of a picture of the area we went to. We actually wanted to do just a little walk of about an hour around the bottom lake, not much further.

But as the above picture lets assume, it was too beautiful to stop at the bottom. In deed, Engelbert and I started our walk, but everytime we thought we should turn around it was so beautiful that we kept saying "just some more meters, just up to there and then we can turn around" and so the walk turned into a into a 5 hours hike nearly all the way up to the last of the lakes on the photo. Have a look at the pictures!

Some blueberries on the way.

On the top: lunch time!!!

Arrived back on the bottom at our car, we stop by the restaurant "Maren Anna", yet another place used by our groups for lunch.

We made it - it feels good! So let's drive "home" to our rorbu for tonight.
