Cross country skiing cont'd

Cross country skiing 2011 - the fun continues!

It's actually quite late for starting the skiing season, but that's due to several reasons. Either there were always other things already on the programme or - and that was surely the main reason - the weather conditions weren't good enough. I have the feeling the winter isn't as strong and the adequate amounts of snow didn't come as early this season.

Anyways, with this weekend we finally managed to agree on a date to give our first skiing experience of 2011 a go. Actually we wanted to go all together: Audrey, Jana, Germain and Tim.
Germain, though had problems with his knees and Tim for some reason didn't get that we always had in mind the Sunday and was in the end planned otherwise.
So it was Audrey, Jana and me meeting fully equipped and adequately dressed at the Nationaltheatre train station at 12:30, ready to go skiing at... once again Sognsvann. That's where it's nice and flat... perfect for a beginner like me to start doing cross country skiing again after a one year break.

So, there we go:

As après-ski activity, Audrey invited us to her place where also Germain joined later. She still had the ingredients brought from France to make some home made "galette des rois" (which you should know from two of my previous posts).

The preparation looked so easy and uncomplicated and it turned out to be a really good receipe. The "galette des rois" was really delicious, escpecially since it was still a little warm when we ate it.

Jana found the little trinket (la fève) and became the queen of the afternoon.

We used the remaining pastry for an apple-sugar-cinnamon creation put in the oven as well. Not too bad, but for sure not as tasty as Audrey's "galette des rois" :-)
