Tobogganing at Korketrekkeren

I had already heard about the "Korketrekkeren" tobogganing slope last winter, but I had totally forgotten about it until Jana mentioned it now. Her boyfriend Helder was coming again to Oslo and she suggested to do that.

The toboggan run is located right next to the original bobsleigh run, built for the 1952 Olympic games. It is lit up in the evening, and adults are just as eager as children when it comes to this rather original form of activity. The local metro takes you up to the top of the toboggan run at Frognerseteren station where one also finds the sled rental. Then a 2km non-stop full speed rush down the elevation drop of 255 metres takes about 10 minutes. And when you get to the bottom of the run at Midstuen station you simply get on the metro again to reach the top!

We decided to give this activity a try on Sunday 13th of March. Thr group consisted of Jana and her boyfriend, Rachel (my trainee), Anaïs (another Terra Nova trainee) and me. Audrey unfortunately suffered from back pain and thought it better to stay home.
Nevertheless, we had a looooooot of fun. We rented the sleds and helmets for a whole day which was actually pretty cheap and went down and up again, over and over again :-)
Here is actually a pretty cool video!

Ready, steady, go!

The first run was of course a little slow as we needed to get a feeling for the track, the speed and the equipment, but already the second run down went non-stop to the bottom station and up again for a next run!

Later, before heading back to town, Jana, Helder and I went for a cup of hot chocolate and a little snack to the Frognerseteren restaurant/café.

This day was definitely fun! Så gøy!
