For the beginning of July, my colleague Franck got a couple of free tickets for the premiere of the Queen show "The Show Must Go On" that's on stage now on the Oseberg Kulturhus in Tønsberg, an hour ourside of Oslo.
Unfortunately he and his wife couldn't go so he offered them in the office. Stéphanie and I wanted to go there and took over his tickets.
As the show was supposed to start at 9 p.m. only and last for at least a couple of hours, we decided to stay for an overnight in Tønsberg. We arranged a room at the Quality Hotel Tønsberg where we got a pretty good special agent rate.
Despite having asked for a TWIN room, we got a double... but ok, we could cope with that...and at least it was a superior room.
Before the start of the show, we had a quick walk along the river banks of Tønsberg, trying to find something to eat. Unfortunately, we left Oslo with some delay, so by the time we reached Tønsberg, it was already pretty late and we had only 30 minutes to get some dinner for us.
We eventually stopped at a little bistro, where we stuffed a rather tasteless burger and a disgusting glass of wine in us, before rushing back to the show venue.
The show started over 30 minutes later then programmed which made it a pretty long evening in the end.
The music was good, though - just Queen :-) However, the show itself was not what Stéphanie and I expected. I think we both had thought to see a kind of musical. But this was rather a kind of rock concert - seated!
Even more odd - actually pretty disturbing and super annoying! - the fact that people in the middle of the concert just got up to go to the bar and get some more drinks. This meant that a whole row had to get up and let that idiot pass... like at the movies. However, it was not in total 2 people that had to get up. It was totally common to disturb like that. Stéphanie and I were so pissed off these people. We thought this is respectless!
Anyways, the music was good. Of course you weren't allowed to take pictures and with my camera I don't manage to take good pictures without flash if it's not light enough. So here just a few.
By the time the show was over it was after midnight, so Stéphanie and I immediately went to bed. We had to get up super early to be back in the office in Oslo by 9 a.m.
Thanks anyway, Franck, for leaving us the tickets!
