Tryllefløten - the Magic Flute by Mozart

Today Audrey and I went to see the first of the performances of the abonnement that we have bought at "den Norske Opera & Ballet" (the Oslo Opera). During the coming winter season 2011/2012 they have progammed some of the most famous opera and ballet pieces. Since Audrey and I both liked the idea, we agreed on an abonnement of pre-defined tickets and dates for 7 different performances. Among those:
  • Tryllefløten - The Magic Flute by Mozart
  • Svanesjøen - Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky
  • Nøtteknekkeren - Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky
  • Macbeth by Verdi
  • La Bohème by Puccini
  • Askepott - Cinderella by Prokofjew
  • Aida by Verdi
So, as mentioned today Audrey and I attended the first one: Mozart's "Magic Flute". I was a little bit disappointed. The performance was for my taste too modern and I'm not too sure if the "Queen of the Nights" sang the particularly demanding aria perfectly. And this Asian touch in the setting was a bit too irritating in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to our next opera evening in November, hoping that this will turn out to be more classical.
