Franck and Odd-Arve explaining Eudes the special characteristics of the Linie Aquavit: Linie Aquavit is named after the tradition of sending oak barrels of aquavit with ships from Norway to Australia and back again, by that passing the equator twice before being bottled. The constant movement, high humidity and fluctuating temperature cause the spirit to extract more flavour and contributes to accelerated maturation.
This year we even had a "special" guest. Jana's, Audrey's and my friend Carla (which you might have been introduced to in some previous posts) is going to work part time at Haman Scandinavia from February. In order to make her get used to our pretty special bunch of crazy colleagues, we had invited her to join the team already at the Christmas party.
We also played the usual "Secret Santa", this time though in a modified way. Everyone bought a present, but unpersonalizsed, i.e. not for a specific person. All presents were put on the conference table and we started throwing a dice. At a 6 the person was allowed to choose one of the presents on the table. When all presents were distributed that way, they were unpacked. However the game continued. For three minutes we continued throwing the dice and at a 1 or a 6 one had to swap the recently "won" present with the present of someone else, a presents we liked better. This caused a lot of rotation of the presents and noone was sure to keep his/her initially received present. Big fights were going on for a scarf of the Norwegian soccer team (which Carla initially unpacked), for a calendar, some makeup powder and for a bottle of red wine. Very very funny!

The party continues...
Dressing lessons: Michelle explaining Franck that he has to wear his shirt not stuck into the jeans...
Later on, around 11:30 p.m. the majority of colleagues had already left. So the remaining four (Franck, Stéphanie, Michelle and I) decided to join our colleague Wiebke at the "Tors Hammer" discotheque. And as long as you were dressed in somehow Christmassy, you got in for free... That way you had about a hundred Santa Clauses on the dance floor, but also this Christmas tree running around.
What I liked about this party was the music. It was not this unbearable house music being played these days in the majority of the discotheques. It was rather cool dancing music, music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, with for example hits from Michael Jackson, musicals like Grease, Dirty Dancing, Queen and other - in my opinion - good stuff :-)
This way I even had a nice Disco Fox dance with Franck :-) Very nice!
At around 2 a.m. we left the party. The "Tors Hammer" is actually pretty close to where I live so I was home about 15 minutes later.
That was a very nice Christmas party...though not as "excessive" as the one last year :-)

I have taken the pictures of the Coca Cola truck which was just having a stop in Oslo a couple of days after our office party while being out shopping for presents. I didn't feel like creating a new post for them and just add them now at the bottom of this one.
