The next trip with friends is coming up! Already some months ago we decided to organise a trip to Geilo, preferrably during the Ice Music Festival hold there in January.
However, this trip needs some more organisation. So far we had established the participants to the tour: Jana, Audrey, Tim, Germain and for my great pleasure also my friend Sarah will join us again from Germany.
The dates are also set: the weekend 21.-23.01.2011, that's exactly the weekend when Geilo hosts the Ice Music Festival.
Next thing to organise are accomodation, transport and other prices, such as festival prices and also rates for ski rental. Since Geilo is a well known place for skiing in Norway - of course, it's not the French Alps - we want to combine the festival with some (alpine/downhill) skiing. We said everybody should see what prices and special offers we could get and then sit together.
So, today we met all (except Sarah of course) at Jana's place. Together with some finger food she had prepared and some wine we further discussed our excursion.
Tonight's results:
- Accomodation: I could get the best rates at a 6 pax cabin at Geilolia Skisenter, located directly next to the ski lift.
- Transportation: the train from Oslo to Geilo that day would leave to early so we will have to go by car. Tim will drive his own car and for the others we'd need a rental car. Either Audrey or Tim would get best rates at Avis.
- Festival tickets: Jana's boyfriend is in somehow involved in the planning of the festival, so she takes care of getting us tickets for the evening that combine the concert and some midnight dinner
- Skiing equipment: I get some tour operator discount for ski rental and ski pass
So now it's up to everyone to get the things booked accordingly.
We are all really looking forward to this trip. For me it will be standing on (alpine) skis again after nearly 1 years. Curious about how I will go :-)
