MEET2011 by Rezidor at Radisson Plaza

Like every year, the hotel group Rezidor invited to his "MEET" event, a kind of fair where intermediaries from the tourism industry (e.g. tour operators and/or travel agencies etc.) can meet up with representatives from the various worldwide hotels belonging to the Radisson Blu or Park Inn hotel chain. The whole evening is set up in combination with some entertainment and a rather big dinner.

Already last year I attended the MEET2010 with Wiebke, Floriane and Moritz [see post here]. This year it was only Stéphanie and me who subscribed for the MEET2011. We left the office just half an hour earlier. When we arrived with a little delay the speech at the beginning of the evening had already begun. Øystein Dørum, chief economist at Norway's major bank DnBNor, gave a lecture about whether Norway can hold its positive position in a crisis-ridden world. Though it was all in Norwegian it was a pretty interesting talk!

After an hour it was time to get in contact with the various suppliers, i.e. the representatives from various hotels. Of course, it was only the Radisson Blu and Park Inn hotels within Scandinavia which were of interest for us as incoming tour operator. Nevertheless, Stéphanie and I couldn't do without meeting also our "compatriots" and thus also had a chat with the French, German, Italian and others.
After some chatting here and there, some quiz and games, it was time for dinner.
On the menu was as starter: poached cod with pea purée, bacon and pomegranate vinaigrette.
As main dish: tenderloin of beef with herbal crust, root vegetables, potatoes and wild mushroom sauce.
For dessert: dark chocolate mousse with raspberry and peach coulis.

In between the 3 courses some famous musicians played, among others Christian Ingebrigtsen (member of the british-norwegian boyband A1) and Marion Ravn.

Though neither Stéphanie nor I won one of the attractive prizes for correctly filling out the quiz, we had a pretty good evening. While many of the participants left right after dinner at around 10 p.m., Stéphanie and I followed the invitation of some guys to the hotel's sky bar on the 33rd floor. It was only at around 1 a.m., after some drinks and nice chats, that we both left the party and went home.
